Getting Started with a Growth Strategy for Product Managers
Building a foundation for Product-Led Growth
Getting started in Growth as a Product Manager can seem really daunting. From Product-Led Growth to marketing focused “Growth Hacking” it can be really difficult to know where to start. As a first step, the best place to start is your company’s data. If you don’t have a clear idea of what data you have, what it all means and how to best understand it, then anything you’ve read about Growth will not be that useful to you. If you find out that you don’t have the data you need to understand your users or key user journeys then you’ve found your first step in getting started in Growth at your company. Chart out what a main user journey looks like and what the event names are associated with those steps. If there is anything missing, you should be addressing it ASAP. Once you have all of the initial data firing, you can start in earnest in Product-Led Growth, or put more plainly, using your data to make decisions for both product but also for the entire business.
